Freeway Traffic School is a private DMV-licensed provider (E1745) and is not a part of the DMV or any California court.

Get court approval

  1. Check your notice

Find the response date, school option, and any fix-it requirements. If the notice says to ask for the bail amount, contact Marina before paying.

  2. Choose payment with traffic school

Use the combined payment and school request online if available. Cases set for court, juvenile matters, collections, and owner-responsibility tickets need clerk assistance.

  3. Wait for approval

Monterey mails a referral with your completion date after reviewing the request and payment. Payment alone is not approval.

Enroll with your court details

  • Citation or case number

Copy the number from your court paperwork.

  • School referral and deadline

Use the completion date on the approved referral, not the citation's pay-or-appear date.

Confirm your completion

Freeway reports completion electronically for California-licensed drivers after you pass and pay. How reporting works.

  1. Meet the referral deadline

Monterey does not extend school completion deadlines. A citation response extension gives you no extra course time.

  2. Check certificate receipt

Use Certificate of Completion Status on Monterey's school page. For an unresolved record, call Marina at (831) 883-5300 with your case number and completion confirmation.

Common questions

Monterey publishes a mailed school request using the signed notice, court payment, and license copy. Confirm your eligibility with the clerk before enrolling.
