Free California Traffic School: Common Questions

Is it really free to start?

Yes. You create your account and open the DMV-licensed course with no upfront course payment, so you can see the whole course before any money changes hands. You pay only when you pass. No hidden fees — there is one course charge and it comes at the end.

When do I pay?

You pay at the very end, once you have worked through the lessons and passed. That single course charge is the only thing Freeway bills you for. Any fee your court charges to add traffic school to your case is separate and is paid directly to the court, not to us.

What if I do not pass a quiz?

Nothing to worry about — you get unlimited retries at no extra charge. You can retake any quiz as many times as you need until you pass, and your progress is saved along the way. A missed question is a quick do-over, never another bill.

Does this work for my county?

Yes, wherever you are in the state. Freeway holds California DMV TVS license E1745, which is valid statewide. As long as your court has approved traffic school for your citation, you can complete this course for a ticket issued anywhere in California.

Is the course available in Spanish?

Am I eligible for traffic school?

Generally you qualify if you hold a valid California license, were driving a non-commercial vehicle, the ticket is a minor infraction (not a misdemeanor or DUI), your court has granted permission, and you have not completed traffic school in the last 18 months.

Eligibility is ultimately decided by your court, so confirm with them before you register. If a registration turns out to be ineligible, it cannot be refunded — a quick check of your citation or a call to the court settles it.
